Craft Book Month: The Feisty Redhead + Rae Gun Ramblings

It’s time to catch up on some more of the Craft Book Month 2013 blog hop! Today we have two apparel projects from some of my favorite bloggers. :)

First up is Ashley of The Feisty Redhead! She tackled a project that many sewists consider a right of passage, which is the blouse from Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing by Gretchen Hirsch (STC Craft). We love the microfloral print and trendy Peter Pan collar of this blouse.

Read more about Ashley’s discoveries on fabric covered buttons, button holes and more, here!

Next up is Marissa of Rae Gun Ramblings. She took on the challenge of a sweatshirt refashion, inspired by the book Subversive Seamster by Melissa Alvarado (Taunton Press). She stumbled upon this gem of a book when a friend accidentally left it in her sewing room. Oops!

Check out more pics of Marissa’s refashion, including pin tucks and poofy sleeves!

Craft Book Month: Fabric Seeds + Pile O’ Fabric

Have you been following along with the Craft Book Month 2013 blog hop? So many inspirational projects so far, and I hope it gives you the motivation to dig out one of your favorite craft books and actually make a project!

Today I’m excited to share two stunning quilts from our blog hoppers. The talented Alyssa who blogs over at Pile O’ Fabric made the Supernova Quilt from Quilting Modern by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen. I had the pleasure of meeting Alyssa at QuiltCon last year, and she is incredibly kind, as well as a talented graphic designer and quilter.

Read more about Alyssa’s experience with improv sewing over here!

The first is from my friend Sarah over at Fabric Seeds, and she’s having a great sale on pre-cuts right now in her shop! Sarah is one of the first blogging friends I had the pleasure to meet in person at Quilt Market a couple years ago… we randomly ended up on the same elevator together, and she said, “Lindsay…?” Such a surreal and fun moment! Her awesome quilt is from a pattern in the book Growing Up Modern by Allison Harris (Stash Books).

Check out more about Sarah’s quilt here!

P.S. Sara is also sponsoring a giveaway of the book and the fabric she used to make this quilt, which you can win if you sew along with us this month!

We’re almost ready to announce all the prizes you can win by sewing along, so I hope you join us!
